Bug Safari will host Roots & Wings Festival at Rosewood Park pavilion

Bugs and Trees in Harmony: A Roots & Wings Festival will be excitedly hosted by Bug Safari at Rosewood Neighborhood Park – Pavilion at 1182 N. Pleasant Valley Rd. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Steven Barney, our featured speaker, is a renowned entomologist who has provided insects for films such as Badlands | America’s National Park, Halloween Ends (2022), The Iron Claw (2023), and Knock at the Cabin (2023).

Join a nature walk to learn about the park’s trees and some  helper arthropods led by The Youth Forest Council;

Join Central Texas Master Naturalists in Monarch Butterfly tagging and in creating pollinators with a pipe cleaner kit;

Experience and learn about the life cycle of arthropods with hands-on activities and encounters (insects, crustaceans, arachnids, myriapods);

Participate in creative art activities, mask making;

And enjoy your goody bag and some snacks.

This free, family-friendly event empowers all ages to explore, learn, and enjoy Austin’s natural spaces.
